Common questions

What does “source verified” mean?

The listing's contact details and operating status matched an official public source when we last checked. It is not a quality rating or endorsement.

How many of these listings are verified right now?

None of them. Verifying means an independent source confirms details the business itself supplied, and Ohio's licence register was unreachable when this site was built.

Does this site publish obituaries or death notices?

No, and it never will. This site exists to help you find and compare funeral homes and cremation providers; obituaries are published by the funeral homes themselves.

Am I entitled to see a funeral home's prices?

Yes. Under the FTC's Funeral Rule a provider must hand you a printed General Price List to keep once an in-person discussion turns to prices, arrangements or specific goods.

Can I get prices over the phone?

Yes. The Funeral Rule requires a provider to answer price questions by telephone from its price lists, and it cannot demand your name or a visit first.

Does Ohio law require embalming?

No. Ohio requires only that a body held more than forty-eight hours before final disposition be embalmed or refrigerated below forty degrees. That is a choice of two.

Who decides what happens after a death in Ohio?

Whoever holds the right of disposition: a representative named in a written declaration under ORC 2108.70, or otherwise the first available person in the order set by ORC 2108.81.

Does payment affect a listing or its ranking?

No. Paid placement never changes organic ranking or verification status, and sponsored or featured placements are labelled wherever they appear.

How do I correct a listing or add a business?

Use the correction or submission link on any listing page. Corrections cost nothing, and sending one never changes a listing's ranking or verification status.

Is your business listed?
Claim your profile to correct information, add service details and approved images, and see how visitors reach you. Featured and sponsored placements are optional, always labeled, and never change your verification status.
